Hey Wright Realty!

Getting to Know

Shelly Nutt

Here at Wright Realty and Design, we are dedicated to re-defining real estate one relationship at a time. With our blog segment "Hey Wright Realty!" we want to spotlight our realtor's hearts behind why we do what we do in the real estate market. We have put together a list of questions so you can get to know our realtors, in hopes to make you feel more comfortable entrusting us with your homes.

Shelly Nutt is a Crosbyton native, but Lubbock is her home. One thing I love about Shelly is that she has the ability to make people feel loved and accepted, it doesn't matter if she has known you for twenty years or twenty minutes. Her heart is for people no matter what the cost, she is always willing to help clients meet their real estate needs. Sit back and relax and get to know Shelly one relationship at a time!

1. Best advice for someone buying or selling their home?

To develop a plan of action. If you're buying a house, take some time and think about the things that are important to you.  Unless you build your dream home, you're more than likely not going to find a "perfect" house, but if you prioritize your "absolutes," it will save time and frustration looking at houses that ultimately don't fit your lifestyle. For example, if life around your house happens in the kitchen, then you don't want to spend a lot of time viewing homes with small kitchens. Or if you need a large backyard for children to run and play or for your pet, then you don't need to spend time looking at garden homes.  As for selling your house, again, take some time and develop a plan and then look at your home with "fresh eyes" and try to see it as a potential buyer would see it.  If your house air vents are dirty, a buyer might worry that you haven't changed the air filters. If your faucets drip, a buyer might be concerned that other more serious problems have also been neglected.  Clean the house well, give it a fresh coat of paint if it's needed, have the carpet cleaned, plant a few flowers in the yard and make it as inviting as possible!

2. Why did you choose to become a realtor?

My grandparents were realtors in Lubbock in the 70's and 80's.  When my parents retired at an early age, they became realtors for a second career.  My daughter in San Antonio recently got her real estate license and; honestly,  I've wanted to be a realtor for 20 years! When I turned 50, God put it on my heart that I needed to step out in faith and trust Him with my dream, so I took my tax refund and enrolled in real estate school! Working with buyers and sellers has already been fun, and God has blessed me through relationships with the WR&D team and wonderful clients.

3. In your opinion why should a client use WR&D?

I met the sweetest lady this morning that told me in a text, "It was a blessing meeting you. I didn't feel like I was pressured into buying a home and you answered my questions without making me feel like I didn't know anything.  You just seem down to earth and like somebody who cares".  That made my heart so happy.  I think clients should use WR&D because we believe relationships should be valued and honored, and clients should be treated with honesty and respect BECAUSE WE REALLY DO CARE.

4. What is your favorite room in a home and why?

In my home, it's my master suite.  I'm single and live alone, and my bedroom is my retreat.  My bedroom has garden doors to the backyard with a small patio. Many evenings I close the front of the house down and move to my back bedroom and sit on the patio to read or dig around in the flower beds. I often find myself sitting in my rocker and watch Fixer Upper or Netflix.  When my kids are home, the kitchen quickly replaces the bedroom as my favorite place!
